Bathmat Background Paper

Go out and buy a cheap bathmat that has suction cups on the backside. Using liquid watercolors, put paint in the suction cups in an area big enough to cover your paper. Just a dab of paint in each cup; don’t fill it up. (Use one color or several colors for a different look.) Lay a piece of paper or paper toweling on the suction cups and either press gently or weigh down with a heavy object. Then remove and let dry. Make several papers at a time to add to the background paper file. For a different look using the same principal, try bubble wrap. For this technique, apply paint to the bubbles with a brayer and press on top of the paper. Maybe use a few different colors or complementary colors to layer the color on the background paper.
